Hi! I’m Colonel Gurvinder Singh. I retired from the Indian Army after 36 years of exemplary service. During my School days starting from Class VIII, my entire service career and to date I have been pursuing my hobby of oil painting and pencil/charcoal sketching. Over the years I have made various paintings and sketches for friends, relatives and army establishments.
I had undergone a small coaching session during my summer holidays when I was in Class VIII. Later I was a member of the Arts Club during my training as a Cadet in the National Defence Academy where I won the “Best Prize” for a 4’ x 3’ village scene landscape I made in oils. This was a great motivational factor and I, since then, have been continuing to pursue my hobby.
I chose my subject from what I see in magazines, online and in Art galleries I keep visiting off and on. In addition I have taken ideas from material collected from the various places I have been posted to or have visited during my service career.
I have done fabric painting, glass painting, Oil painting with brushes and knife, lead and charcoal pencil charcoal sketches. However, my stress has been more on oil painting and sketches. The Oil paintings have been on canvas, tiles and hardboard. I have also restored a couple of oil and knife paintings which were faded/disfigured due to age.
You can see some of my works on the site which are a very small part of my efforts over the years. I could lay my hands on these only as they were readily available within family and close friends.
